The members of the “East Africa Potato Research and Knowledge Exchange Forum” completed the fifth knowledge-exchange event held in Kabale (Uganda) as from 18th to 21st April. The event focused on “Assessment, control of potato quality, traceability and management of information” in order to continue to strengthen the capacities of the research community in East Africa. The forum members include Kenyan University of Nairobi (Food Science, Nutrition and Technology), Makerere University of Uganda, ARI-Uyole of Tanzania, University of Rwanda-CAVM, and NEIKER from Spain. The lead partner in the project is INKOA from Spain.
The current event took place in Western Uganda (Kabale) where the bulk of potato in Uganda is produced, and this permitted the members have an opportunity to execute a set of technical visits to KAZARDI research institute, Bubbare innovation platform, local market, Uganda Research Institute, and Uganda National Seed Potato Producers (UNSPPA).
