The University of Nairobi is in the process of updating the graduands information.
The 71st Graduation Ceremony will be held PHYSICALLY on Friday 20 th September 2024 startingat 7.30 a.m. Graduands should be assembled by 7.00 a.m.
1) Confirm that all marks entered in the SMIS are correct and all required units are complete.
2) All fees should be cleared at least one month before graduation.
3) Convocation fee should be paid before filling an Application for Graduation:
The University of Nairobi Medical Microbiology and Immunology Review Board assessed laboratories in the Department of Food Science Nutrition and Technology and The Department of Public Health Pharmacology and Toxicology in compliance to ISO. They inspected microbiological laboratory for analysis of pathogens (salmonella and camploybacter).
The winners and runners up of the Great Millet Quest Competition were students from the Department of Food Science Nutrition and Technology Pursuing BSc. Food Science and Technology and BSc. The Departemnt of Food Science Nutrition and Techonology's unit Pilot Plant is wholly owned by the University of Nairobi specializing in teaching and research in Food Science, Food Nutrition and Dietetics and Food Safety and Quality.

Prof. G. O. Abong' and family was among the Prize Donor's
The Department of Food Science Nutrition and Technology,Staff and students led by the chairman Prof. G.O. Abong' participated in tree planting event that took place on Friday 19, 2024 at The upper Kabete Campus. The chairman encouraged students and staff to make sure they plant 100 trees this year. The University of Nairobi participates in this exercise in solidarity with the Kenyan Government. The campaign aims at reducing greenhouse emissions, stopping, and reversing deforestation.
The new Chancellor of the university of Nairobi Professor Patrick Verkooijen visited the Department of Food Science Nutrition and Technology during his tour in the Faculty of Agriculture.
Prof. Catherine Kunyanga , Associate Dean Faculty of Agriculture who is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Food Science Nutrition and Technology visited Feed the future innovation lab for food safety by USAID - presenting on poultry value chain. Women and youth pay a vital role in the poultry value chain - interventions targeting reduction of Salmonella and Campylobacter pathogens should actively engage them and consider roles of gender in this value chains. On October 27, 2023, Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT) hosted a
nutrition awareness day event at their academy hall. The Department of Food Science, Nutrition
and Technology, University of Nairobi was represented by two Food scientist, who accompanied
the students, and 67 students pursuing Food Nutrition and Dietetics from the department of food science nutrition and technology.
The event aimed to create awareness on all components of nutrition, and its importance in
achieving optimal health.
