To increase global food security, ensure food safety and support farmers in meeting climate and environment challenges, Codex must be enhanced to bring innovation to markets rapidly (linked to FAO BN3 and BP1). This requires reducing the current backlog with regard to scientific advice requested by Codex, (JMPR, JECFA, JEMRA and more) through the identification of challenges and potential improvements* leading to increased eciency and capacity to support trade, while maintaining scientific independence, rigor and reputation The best way to mark 60 years of Codex Alimentarius is to equip it to meet the challenges for the next 60 years.
