The workshop was held at the Diakonia Resort Conference Center Hall. The session began at 9:00 a.m. led by Dr. George Abong’ who is the coordinator of the project from the University of Nairobi. Following the EMS ISO 14001:2015 Implementers training held in Nairobi under Switch Africa Green Project titled, ‘Inclusive Green Horticulture Processing Sector in Kenya’, Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and the University of Nairobi defined the criteria for selection MSMEs, to be trained on EMS Internal Audit in readiness for Environmental management systems (EMS) certification.
The opening session was graced by the Deputy President of Kenya, HE. Dr William Ruto. Dr Abong who is a member of the Codex regional organizing committee has been actively involved in standards development in which he chairs and is a member of several technical committees at the Kenya Bureau of Standards. He also represented the Food Science and Technology Platform of Kenya (FoSTeP-K) being the current chairman.
