KEBS breakfast meeeting

KEBS organized a breakfast meeting between the National Codex Contact point and Accounting officers of National Codex Committee Members on 2nd March 2023 at Weston hotel. In attendance were five Principal Secretaries (PS agriculture, PS Industry, PS investment, PS ministry of Health and PS trade), Vice Chancellors of Universities and CEOs of food safety industry. They emphasized the need for proper coordination between relevant agencies to ensure that Kenyan Food safety standards are competitive globally. Kenya is a signatory to the Codex Alimentarius which is a joint FAO-WHO Food Standard Program. As a member,Kenya is mandated to harmonize its  food standards to the international Codex system.
The University of Nairobi has played a key role in development and implementation of food safety standards. UoN was represented by Prof Catherine Kunyanga, Associate Dean, Faculty of Agriculture representing the VC Prof. Stephen Kiama.
