Hortigreen Project

In conjunction with Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and SUSTALDE Fundacion (Spain), the University of Nairobi through Hortigreen Project led by the Department of Food Science, Nutrition and Technology and Wangari Maathai Institute trained horticultural MSMEs and business intermediaries on sustainable and efficient use of key natural resources (water and electricity) as well as waste management.

The project team (HORTIGREEN) composed of staff from Food Science, Nutrition and Technology as well as Wangari Maathai Institute has proposed an e-conference on 5-7 October, 2020.  This is the first E-Conference which is on “Sustainable Production and Consumption (SCP) Practices in the Horticulture Processing Sector”.  Other organizations involved are:- Fundacion SUSTALDE, Consumer Information Network (CIN) and Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
