To all staff and students, the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Womens’ Education, rewards outstanding practices of individuals, institutions and non-governmental organizations and other entities advancing girls’ and womens’ education. Established by the Executive Board of UNESCO at its 197th session and launched in 2016 with support from the Governments of the People’s Republic of China, the prize awards two Laureates with USD 50,000 each to continue with their work. The prize contributes to two sustainable goals: Goal 4, “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” and Goal 5” Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls”. The Nestlé Foundation invites applications for Pilot Grant (PG). The Foundation initiates and supports research in human nutrition with public health relevance in low-income and lower-middle-income countries according to the World Bank classification (see http://www.worldbank.org). The results of the research projects should ideally provide a basis for implementation and action which will lead to sustainable effects in the studied populations as generally applicable to the population at large. They should also enable institution strengthening and capacity building in a sustainable manner in the host country and further cooperation and collaboration between Institutions in developed and developing countries. At present the Foundation’s work is primarily concerned with human nutrition research issues dealing with: maternal and child nutrition, including breastfeeding and complementary feeding, macro-and micronutrient deficiencies and imbalances, interactions between infection and nutrition, and nutrition education and health promotion. The Pilot Grant PG) Program of the Foundation provides support for pilot research that has a high potential to lead to a subsequent full research project grant. Usually, the Foundation does not support nutritional survey research. Often to be able to identify areas of problems for potential intervention one has to collect baseline data. A pilot study (pre-study or baseline study) will create the needed data for a larger research project. The PG program may assist this. The pilot study and PG usually represent the starting point for a later full research grant application(i.e. a Small Research Grant or a Large Research Grant) to the Foundation. The program removes a key barrier to research and science teaching by making laboratory equipment available to universities in low- and middle-income countries. As an Instrumental Access awardee, your institution would have an opportunity to “shop” in our extensive inventory of donated laboratory equipment, glassware, and consumables to select items that meet your needs for teaching and research. Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) wishes to announce the 3rd cohort call for applications for undergraduate Scholarships to study at Kyungdong University, South Korea, commencing in September 2022 for study of Bachelor’s degree in Smart Computing, Hotel Management and Business Administration.    A total of thirty (30) scholarships are available and each EAC Partner State is entitled to five (5) scholarships. Details of the scholarships and application procedure are in the attached Call. IUCEA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kyungdong University Global Campus with the eventual goal of promoting sustainable development through training of qualified middle-level professional manpower in East Africa. The African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) is seeking an outstanding candidate for the position of Research Fellow to work in the Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Security (AFNS) and Climate Resilient Economy (CRE) Programs. ACTS is a pioneering development research think tank on harnessing applications of science, technology, and innovation policies for sustainable development in Africa. ACTS is an Intergovernmental organization founded in 1988 to pursue policy-oriented research towards strengthening the capacity of African countries and institutions to harness science and technology for sustainable development. The successful candidate will work under the AFNS and CRE programs in implementing on-going research projects and supporting the acquisition of new projects. Applicants should have at least MSc or preferably a Ph.D. in Agricultural related fields such, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Agriculture and/or Food Science or closely related fields with interest and application on climate resilience issues.
