The project team (HORTIGREEN) composed of staff from Food Science, Nutrition and Technology as well as Wangari Maathai Institute has proposed an e-conference on 5-7 October, 2020. This is the first E-Conference which is on “Sustainable Production and Consumption (SCP) Practices in the Horticulture Processing Sector”. Other organizations involved are:- Fundacion SUSTALDE, Consumer Information Network (CIN) and Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).

In collaboration with LinkedIn Learning, the project plans to provide free employment-relevant online training to randomly selected students.

Mr. Duke Gekonge Omayio , a Phd student and a part-time Lecturer from the Department of Food Science, Nutrition, and Technology is among the 20 international student travel grant awardees to attend this years’ International Association of Food Protection (IAFP) Conference in Cleaveland, Ohio - United States of America. Mr. Gekonge is undertaking a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology under the Fruits and Vegetables for all Seasons project (FruVaSe, 2018-2021) The Department congratulates him for this achievement and wishes him all the best.
