Prof. C. Kunyanga, the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, led a team of researchers on a courtesy visit to the Dean of the Faculty.
Specialists from Fresenius Kabi conducted a training session on Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition, with the theme "From Theory to Practice." The training took place at DFSNT on March 21, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. The session was hosted by Prof. C.N. Kunyanga, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.
Ms. Charlene Ruto, the Founder of SMACHS Foundation, visited the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Nairobi. During her visit, she toured the Department of Food Science's Pilot Plant section and the food processing hub, where we had the opportunity to showcase our innovations and products. The theme of the visit was "Youth Opportunities in Post-Harvest Management, Food Processing, Value Addition, and Agricultural Technologies."
Researchers from University College Dublin and Meru University accompanied by CUE representatives visited the department of Food Science Nutrition and Technology .Fostering a collaborative spirit among the participating institutions. The discussions were productive, emphasizing potential partnerships and collaborative research opportunities among the three universities.
All parties expressed a strong interest in forming a partnership that could enhance research capabilities and academic exchange.
The Chairman of the Department of Food Science and Technology, Prof. G.O. Abong, who also serves as the Chairman of the University of Nairobi Show Committee, recently attended the Nairobi International Trade Fair. We are proud to announce that the University of Nairobi won several awards at the event, including the prestigious Best Stand Award presented by the Deputy President, with the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi present to receive it.
During the 71st Graduation Ceremony of the university of Nairobi, The Department of Food Science Nutrition and Technology produced 48 professionals to the world.
The University of Nairobi is in the process of updating the graduands information.
The 71st Graduation Ceremony will be held PHYSICALLY on Friday 20 th September 2024 startingat 7.30 a.m. Graduands should be assembled by 7.00 a.m.
1) Confirm that all marks entered in the SMIS are correct and all required units are complete.
2) All fees should be cleared at least one month before graduation.
3) Convocation fee should be paid before filling an Application for Graduation:
The University of Nairobi Medical Microbiology and Immunology Review Board assessed laboratories in the Department of Food Science Nutrition and Technology and The Department of Public Health Pharmacology and Toxicology in compliance to ISO. They inspected microbiological laboratory for analysis of pathogens (salmonella and camploybacter).
The winners and runners up of the Great Millet Quest Competition were students from the Department of Food Science Nutrition and Technology Pursuing BSc. Food Science and Technology and BSc.
